- Initial Post after Colin was born -
On Christmas morning Mia and I got a HUGE surprise when her water broke at 4am. Since the baby was breach, the doctors performed a c-section at 9:50am and Colin Patrick McGloin was born.
He is doing very well and making tremendous progress. As a preemie, he will have to stay at the hospital to grow and be monitored. The doctors state a reasonable estimate for his homecoming is around his expected due date, but we are hoping to get him back in February. He is making significant strides such as being weaned from the respirator within 24 hours, lowering the required oxygen boost from his CPAP (hose underneath his nose similar to those used by senior citizens) to room air levels, and processing progressive quantities of regulated natural milk intake.
Colin is getting excellent care at the hospital and his doctors state the excitement of his first few months will be a distant memory after he catches up on his growth. His cone head, which was caused by being breach with little room to maneuver, will return to normal within a few weeks. He is a tough little guy and we couldn’t be more proud of him.
Mia is home from the hospital and recovering nicely from the c-section. She is very excited about her little Irishman. I cherish my visits with him and am extremely grateful for his medical staff.
I’ll keep you updated on Colin’s progress and appreciate your prayers.
Happy New Year,
Ryan & Mia
